Eylea 40mg/Ml Injection

Eylea 40mg Injection contains Aflibercept, a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitor. It is a 40 mg/mL solution used as an intravitreal injection to treat certain conditions that affect the retina and can cause vision loss. Aflibercept helps reduce abnormal blood vessel growth and leakage from blood vessels in the eye. This can help control retinal swelling and abnormal blood vessel formation associated with conditions such as wet age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular oedema, retinal vein occlusion and myopic choroidal neovascularisation.

Eylea 40mg Injection is used in adults for: Neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD) Visual impairment due to macular oedema secondary to retinal vein occlusion, including branch RVO and central RVO Diabetic macular oedema (DME) Myopic choroidal neovascularisation (myopic CNV) The specific treatment schedule depends on the condition being treated and the response to therapy.

Eylea 40mg Injection is administered only by intravitreal injection by a qualified healthcare professional experienced in administering injections into the eye. It should not be self-administered. Although the vial contains 40 mg/mL of Aflibercept, the recommended adult dose is generally 2 mg, equivalent to 0.05 mL per injection. The dose and frequency depend on the condition being treated. For wet AMD, treatment generally begins with one injection each month for three consecutive doses, followed by treatment at longer intervals according to the patient's response. For diabetic macular oedema, treatment generally begins with one injection each month for five consecutive doses, followed by injections every two months. For retinal vein occlusion, treatment is generally given monthly initially. Myopic choroidal neovascularisation is generally treated with a single 2 mg injection, with additional treatment if required based on disease activity. Your ophthalmologist will determine the appropriate treatment schedule based on your eye examination and response to treatment.

Eylea can cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. Some side effects are related to the injection procedure rather than the medicine itself. Common side effects Conjunctival haemorrhage Eye pain Increased eye pressure Cataract Vitreous floaters Vitreous detachment Blurred or disturbed vision Eye redness or irritation The most frequently reported adverse reactions include conjunctival haemorrhage, eye pain, cataract, vitreous detachment, vitreous floaters and increased intraocular pressure. Serious side effects Seek immediate medical attention if you develop: Endophthalmitis, a serious infection inside the eye Severe eye pain or worsening redness Sudden deterioration or loss of vision Retinal detachment or retinal tear Severe inflammation inside the eye Significant increase in eye pressure Severe allergic reaction Arterial thromboembolic events such as stroke or heart attack Serious ocular reactions related to the intravitreal injection procedure are uncommon but can include endophthalmitis, retinal detachment, vitreous haemorrhage, cataract and increased intraocular pressure.

Pregnancy Consult Your Doctor Eylea should generally not be used during pregnancy unless the potential benefit outweighs the potential risk to the unborn baby. Women who can become pregnant should use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 3 months after the last intravitreal injection of Aflibercept. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or think you may be pregnant. Breast Feeding Consult Your Doctor Aflibercept may pass into breast milk in very small amounts, although information in breastfeeding women is limited. Breastfeeding is not recommended during Eylea treatment as a precaution. Discuss the appropriate approach with your doctor. Lungs Consult Your Doctor Tell your doctor if you have a lung condition or develop breathing difficulty after receiving Eylea. Severe breathing difficulty can be a sign of a serious allergic reaction and requires immediate medical attention. Liver Consult Your Doctor Tell your doctor if you have liver disease or other significant medical conditions. No specific dose adjustment has been established for patients with liver impairment, but your doctor will consider your overall health before treatment. A
