Poviztra 1.7mg FlexTouch contains Semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist used as part of weight-management treatment. It is supplied as a prefilled FlexTouch pen for once-weekly administration under the skin. The 1.7mg strength is part of the dose-escalation schedule before the usual 2.4mg maintenance dose.

Poviztra 1.7mg FlexTouch is used to: Manage obesity: It is used with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for chronic weight management in adults with obesity. Manage overweight with weight-related health conditions: It may be prescribed for adults with overweight who have at least one weight-related condition. Support cardiovascular risk reduction: Semaglutide is also indicated to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events in eligible adults with established cardiovascular disease and obesity or overweight.

Poviztra 1.7mg FlexTouch is injected once a week under the skin of the abdomen, thigh or upper arm. The 1.7mg strength is used during dose escalation and is generally followed by the 2.4mg maintenance dose when appropriate. Your doctor may keep you at a lower dose for longer if you do not tolerate dose increases well. Use the FlexTouch pen only after receiving proper instruction on the injection technique. Use a new needle for every injection and never share the pen. If you miss a dose, follow the missed-dose instructions provided with your product and prescription. Do not take two doses together.

Common side effects: Nausea Vomiting Diarrhoea Constipation Abdominal pain Headache Dizziness Indigestion Decreased appetite These effects may become more noticeable when the dose is increased. Serious side effects: Severe or persistent abdominal pain Severe allergic reactions Persistent vomiting or diarrhoea with dehydration Gallstones or gallbladder inflammation Changes in vision Low blood sugar when used with insulin or sulfonylureas Seek medical attention if severe or persistent symptoms develop.

Pregnancy Unsafe Semaglutide should not be used during pregnancy. If you are planning a pregnancy, treatment should generally be stopped at least 2 months beforehand. Breast Feeding Unsafe Poviztra should not be used while breastfeeding. Speak to your doctor about suitable alternatives. Lungs Consult Your Doctor Tell your doctor if you are scheduled for surgery or a procedure requiring general anaesthesia or deep sedation. Semaglutide delays stomach emptying and has been associated with a risk of pulmonary aspiration during such procedures. Liver Consult Your Doctor Tell your doctor if you have liver disease before starting treatment. Alcohol Consult Your Doctor Alcohol may worsen nausea, vomiting and other gastrointestinal effects. Discuss alcohol intake with your doctor. Driving Consult Your Doctor Poviztra does not usually directly affect driving. However, dizziness can occur during dose escalation. Low blood sugar may also affect driving when Poviztra is used with insulin or sulfonylureas.
