Wegovy 2.4

Wegovy 2.4mg FlexTouch contains Semaglutide, a medicine that belongs to a group of medicines called GLP-1 receptor agonists. Semaglutide is used as part of weight-management treatment in eligible adults with obesity or overweight with weight-related health problems. Wegovy 2.4mg FlexTouch contains Semaglutide 9.6 mg in 3 mL solution and is supplied as a FlexTouch prefilled pen. It is used along with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity when prescribed for weight management.

Wegovy 2.4mg FlexTouch is used to: Manage obesity: Semaglutide may be prescribed to help adults with obesity lose weight and maintain weight loss when used along with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Manage overweight with weight-related health conditions: It may be prescribed for adults who are overweight and have a weight-related health condition. Support long-term weight management: Continued treatment may help maintain weight loss when used as part of a long-term weight-management plan. Wegovy is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Use Wegovy 2.4mg FlexTouch exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The 2.4mg dose is the maintenance dose reached after treatment has been increased gradually from lower strengths. It is injected under the skin once a week. The injection can be given in the abdomen, thigh or upper arm and can be used at any time of the day, with or without food. Your doctor will decide when to increase the dose based on your response and how well you tolerate the medicine. Do not change the dose yourself. Do not inject Wegovy into a vein or muscle. Your doctor or nurse should show you the correct injection technique before you use the FlexTouch pen yourself. Use a new needle for each injection and do not share your pen or needles with another person.

Common side effects of Wegovy may include: Nausea Vomiting Diarrhoea Constipation Abdominal pain Headache Dizziness Indigestion Decreased appetite Nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea are particularly common when Semaglutide treatment is started or the dose is increased. These effects may become less noticeable as treatment continues. Serious side effects Seek medical attention if you develop: Severe and persistent abdominal pain, which may spread to the back and may be accompanied by vomiting. This can be a sign of pancreatitis. Severe allergic reactions, including swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat or difficulty breathing. Persistent vomiting or diarrhoea, which can lead to dehydration and kidney problems. Gallstones or inflammation of the gallbladder, which may cause abdominal pain, fever or yellowing of the skin or eyes. Sudden or worsening changes in vision, particularly if you have diabetes-related eye disease. Low blood sugar, particularly when Wegovy is used with insulin or sulfonylureas.

Pregnancy Unsafe Wegovy should not be used during pregnancy. If you become pregnant while using Semaglutide or are planning to become pregnant, tell your doctor. Semaglutide should be stopped at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy. Breast Feeding Unsafe Semaglutide should not be used while breastfeeding unless specifically advised by your doctor. Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding before starting Wegovy. Lungs Consult Your Doctor Tell your doctor if you are scheduled to undergo surgery involving general anaesthesia or deep sedation. Semaglutide delays stomach emptying, which may increase the risk of aspiration during these procedures. Liver Consult Your Doctor Tell your doctor if you have liver disease before using Wegovy. Your doctor will decide whether the medicine is suitable for you based on your condition. Alcohol Consult Your Doctor Talk to your doctor about alcohol consumption while using Wegovy. Alcohol can worsen nausea and vomiting and may affect blood sugar control, particularly in people taking other diabetes medicines.
